It's Time

Time for the Crafters of Faith monthly challenge

Crafters of Faith is a blog group that I enjoy. This month Sharon is the hostess and she gave us a fabulous challenge theme:

2013 is here! What a great time to clear out the old to make way for the new.

For this challenge, I would like to see you use both old stash and new stash to create your card/project.

To add a little fun to the challenge, I'd love to see you try a new technique - something you've never done before. Make sure you tell us what's new and what's old aand describe the technique you used.

Here's my card:

I'm not sure everyone would agree it's a technique, but I think it is. I used an embossing folder - nothing new about that, right? But the new part for me is I put together the layers of the card front - all except the oval sentiment, the ribbon and the card base. Then I embossed all the layers at one time. I saw that on a card recently and loved the way it looked, so wanted to try it myself. I like it!

The inside:

Well, for those of you who know me - you know I've been trying not to use anything newly purchased in my cards for the first 100 days of 2013. So I took a little liberty with Sharon's specifications of using something new and something old on my card.

The Old: Easy - the DP (I've had that pack forever), the cardstock (again - forever), the inside image (Ive used it before), even the embellishments.

The New - I used a stamp I've had for a while but have NEVER used. It had never seen ink before, so in that sense it was/is new to me. It's the sentiment on the front of my card.

I hope the Crafters of Faith don't think I cheated.

This is my 36th card in the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Please be sure to stop by the Crafters of Faith blogs, too. You can find their links in my left sidebar.

I'll Leave the Light On for You

Welcome to my home!

There's no doorbell, just knock.

I created this card for the newest Craft Us Crazy Challenge

Challenge #36
January 31 - February 13

Use your Cutting Machine and/or Favorite Technique

I want to give a great big THANK YOU to The Cutting Cafe for giving me the Front Door set to use in my creation.

I did use my favorite cutting machine in making this card - my Cuttlebug. I also used my favorite technique (well, if you can call this a technique)... I love to use punch art!

Here's the inside of my card, complete with a mirror on the wallpapered wall:

This is my 35th card for the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge.

I hope you'll participate in the Craft Us Crazy Challenge! Who knows? You might be the lucky participant that wins the Prize from The Cutting Cafe!

And be sure to stop by my blog again this afternoon. I'll have a very special card to show you at that time - the Crafters of Faith Blog Group has a challenge today.

Hot Chocolate Treat

I love a cup of nice warm hot chocolate on a cold day, don't you? And there's nothing better than hot chocolate with just a touch of white chocolate added to it.

Yum!!!

If you're looking for a little gift to give to a friend, why not mix up a batch of the hot chocolate mix and give her a container of it, along with a new mug and a handmade card.

Now wasn't that easy? And I'm sure your friend is so happy with her gift, too. ;)

Here's the inside of the card with plenty of room to write a note and tell your friend how much she means to you...

This is myy 34th card for the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge.

I Love...

...I love the CALENDAR GIRLS blog group! (And today is the 28th so today the Calendar Girls are showing this month's challenge creations.)

...I love being on Design Teams! (And today is the day for a new challenge with the ABC Challenges, one of the Design Teams I am currently a member of.)

January 28 - February 3

Theme: Valentine's Day
Create a Valentine's Card for someone special

...I love Bugaboo Digital Stamps! (And today's card features the FREEBIE they have right now.)

...I love that I'm using things I own instead of buying more "toys" thanks to the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge! (And today is my 32nd card.)

Sooooooooooooooo let me tell you about the Calendar Girls Challenge. Each month, one of us serves as the hostess, and I just happen to be Miss January, which means I got to come up with the theme for this month.

January Theme:

This is a PHOTO INSPIRATION Challenge. But there’s a catch! You have to choose your own photo.

I want you to find a photo – it can be a picture you’ve taken (of a family member, a scenic drive, a food you’ve cooked, whatever) or it can be a picture someone else has taken. Maybe you even found it on the internet. After you’ve chosen the PHOTO you want to use, create a card/project inspired by that photo.

Of course on your blog post – when you show us your creation – we also want to see the photo that inspired you.

I really didn't know what kind of photo I wanted, but decided to search for something to go along with love and/or Valentine. I did that because I knew today's ABC Challenges theme was to create a Valentine card and I thought I could just make ONE card if the photo I chose worked for a Valentine. LOL!

After narrowing my choices down to about 4 pictures, I finally chose this one...

Isn't that just too sweet? If you'd like to see the blog it came from, click here.

I chose this photo for a variety of reasons: it was cute, it had a card kind of feel to it, it was appropriate for a Valentine, and perhaps most of all because I had a Colorbok LOVE  letters embellishment that someone had given me a long long time ago, so I had a plan for using them on this card.

As I told you, the image (as well as the sentiment that is inside my card) is this week's FREEBIE at Bugaboo Digital stamps. Thank you Jodi! I love Bugaboo Stamps!

Here's the inside of my card:

I hope you'll participate in the ABC Challenges Valentine Card Challenge this week!

And do stop by the other Calendar Girl blogs to see what photo they chose for inspiration and what they created. Oh... and be sure to welcome the newest member of the Calendar Girls when you stop by her blog. We are so happy to have Linda in the group now! WELCOME, LINDA!!!

Lift High the Cross

About a week ago I happened upon a blog I'd never seen before and I was immediately drawn to the opportunity it offers.

If I understand it correctly, every two weeks will begin a new Bible Study with a hymn image to download. Participants are encouraged to create a project - ATC, card, scrapbook page, whatever - using the hymn image.

I love this idea!

For more information (and to participate, if you'd like) click here. Oh, and be sure to click on the link she has and listen to the beautiful hymn...

Lift High the Cross

I know you must be shocked, but I didn't use any designer paper on this card. I just thought it would detract from the hymn, so I went with solids. Oh, and I used one of my Our Daily Bread stamp sets - Time.

I went VERY simple on the inside:

This is my 31st card for the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Have a blessed Son day!

Ugh!

Have you ever created a card and HATED  it? If you have, you know exactly what I'm feeling right now. LOL!

However, I'm in the 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge... and I don't want to lag behind............ so I'm going to show you the card I hate. I made it for today's post.

Here is my 30th card for the challenge:

Here's the inside:

I'm sorry! I'll do my very best to create a better card tomorrow.
