Mid-Week Peek at My Week

Okay, this is going to be a short post... but it's Wednesday and so it's time for my mid-week post.

hmmmmmm... this is short because:

1. We've been on vacation.

2. I have a new computer (my first Apple) and I'm dealing with a HUGE learning curve. Sheesh! I can't even figure out how to edit photos and save them so that I can insert them in a blog post. Baby. steps. I will get this figured out. someday.

That being said, I had to turn on my old (non-Apple) computer to put together a design team blog post for Friday. LOL!

Did I mention baby steps?

Vacation was good... and I am learning my new computer, albeit slowly. (This is the first blog post I've made on it though... so that's good.)

SCORE TIME: Would I give this week a “thumbs up” or a “thumbs down”?

Card Kit Cuties 2016 - #2

NOTE: If you were hoping to see a Mid-Week Peek at My Week post today, you're out of luck. I'm actually in the middle of a week-long vacation. I put this blog post together before I left, so I couldn't really do a peek at something that hadn't fully developed yet. I'm sorry. But I do have something to show you today.

As I mentioned in my blog post last Wednesday, I am the recipient of the card kits this month in a Card Kit Swap group that I am part of on SCS. It's such fun getting these kits. The kit I used for today's cards came from Barb.

Barb lives VERY CLOSE to the home of Whipper Snapper stamps - and gets to go regularly to their store. Is anyone as envious as I am? Anyway, she knows I love Whipper Snapper stamps so the images she sent in her kit are Whipper Snapper ones. She also set gorgeous designer papers (SU Sycamore Street), MANY SU ribbons, buttons, and brads, too. WOW! It was a colorful kit, that's for sure.

THANK YOU Barb!

I made two cards...

Card #1 - Whipper Snapper Spring Clementine

Card #2 - Whipper Snapper Haagen Daz Bear

The only thing of my own that I used for these cards was cardstock - Recollections Black and 110# White.

I have a lot of Stampin' UP! stamps... and a lot of them haven't seen much activity. So I decided to pull one off the shelf and use it.

A Chick with a Hot Flash

The Creative Card Chicks have a hostess each month who sends out items to use in making a card and any special instructions she wants to specify. This month Paula is the hostess and she sent a fun kit featuring images from the Craft Lounge. Oh my goodness. "Edith" (the image) is just too funny, especially paired with the sentiments Paula included. I had a difficult time choosing just one sentiment to use.

Here's my card:

Items from Paula: Craft Lounge Image/Sentiment, Hobby Lobby Papers, Shells and Clouds cut with Memory Box Dies, and the baker's twine.

THANK YOU, Paula!

The only thing I used of my own was Cardstock - Recollections Black and Kraft.

Stick a Fork In It and Call It Done

I love the Stamping Bella stamp that I chose to use for today's card. In fact, I love it so much that I used it in a swap group I'm hosting this month.

Iron Chef Chicks

I really wanted to use food-themed designer paper that wasn't sweets (cupcakes) since the chicks are salting and peppering their concoction... but, alas, there was no appropriate designer paper in mys stash other than these cupcakes. Oh well.

Here's the inside:

Mid-Week Peek at My Week

Since joining the PDE Linky Party design team, my blog is busy on Fridays so I'm going to do my Peek at My Week posts on Wednesdays instead... so TODAY IS THE DAY!

This week has mostly been a creative one, though there have also been a few meetings to attend. We are leaving on vacation this Saturday - that's 3 days off. YAY! So  I've been working to get design team commitments, swap commitments, etc. finished up before we leave. A week ago I had a minimum of 25 cards that needed to be made before we leave. It felt like a daunting task. But I am pleased to say that I've made 29 cards since last Thursday. Whew! Mission accomplished.

Did I mention I now need to put together 9 blog posts and have them scheduled to go live at the appropriate time... before we leave Saturday morning. And I have to do laundry. And pack.

So much to do... one step at a time.

Two of the cards I made this week are very special. See, it's MY month. Did you know that? LOL! I am in a card kit swap group on SCS. We send a kit to one recipient each month and she has two months to use the kits, making at least one card from each. August is my month. The very first kit I received this month - quite a while ago - was from Kelly. Her kit was full of goodies - embellishments galore (buttons, sequins, wood pieces, flowers, rhinestones, gems, even some cork, and more!) papers ribbons/fibers and darling images from Kraftin Kimmie (Woodland Friends set). THANK YOU, Kelly!

The only thing of my own that I used on these cards was some cardstock (for layering and card bases) - Recollections Brown and Stampin' UP! Really Rust.

Here are the two cards I made with her kit...

Card #1

Card #2

Oh, and just in case you noticed.. yep, I did put the foxy sentiment on the wrong card. Duh!

*Edit - so I decided to fix my mistake. ;)

All better. Life. is. good.

SCORE TIME: Would I give this week a “thumbs up” or a “thumbs down”?
